... I like to round up all our friends - cos that’s what Border Collies do - we round up all the animals (and humans are animals, aren’t they?).
But my favourite work is with the different “Birdie Planes”!
The vineyard is at the end of the runway for the local Alexandra airstrip.
I am known to the pilots as “The Black Bullet”.
I wait until a Cessna or Piper “Birdie Plane” is very low and overhead, then I race it down the rows of the vineyard as it lands or takes off.
I love to swim!
I can even spell that word, so any time anyone mentions a S W I M
I head straight for the dam!
I am learning to ride a rubber tube.
And I love to go jet skiing! I like to sit on the front and steer.
Then there are the “Helicopter Birdies”! I have to protect everyone at the vineyard from them. So I chase them away to make sure they don’t land! I love the noise they make!
But best of all are the “Glider Birdies”! One day I am going to fly one! They come out at the weekend. I like to sit at the end of the vineyard and watch the humans as they prepare for flight. They use a very long towrope to “slingshot” them into the air. I love when they rev up the V8 motor, cos that means it’s time for action! Once the “glider Birdie is in the air I can stalk it. I run up and down the vineyard looking up in the air! It gets very busy when they circle overhead in an updraft!!! but best time of all is when they come in to land. I can almost run as fast as a glider if I really try... and the vineyard rows make a great racetrack.
One day I am going to catch a “Glider Birdie”. That’s my aim in life...and what a busy life it is!
